Los Angeles Wildfires: A Call for Support and Solidarity
The Tesfazghi Foundation stands with the victims of the devastating wildfires currently raging across Los Angeles County. As of January 15, 2025, the fires have claimed at least 25 lives and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. The Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire have been particularly destructive, burning over 23,000 acres and 14,000 acres respectively.

The impact on the community has been profound, with 92,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders and another 89,000 under evacuation warnings. Thousands of firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the blazes, but the challenges are immense.
In response to this crisis, the Tesfazghi Foundation is launching a relief fund to support those affected by the wildfires. Donations will go towards providing emergency shelter, food, and medical supplies to displaced families. We are also partnering with local organizations to ensure that long-term recovery efforts are well-supported.
We are heartened to share that Airbnb.org, a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charity associated with Airbnb, has announced that they are donating emergency housing for over 25,000 people impacted by the L.A. wildfires. All stays are free for guests in need. Previously, the charity had already announced housing donations for 6,500 people.
Philanthropic Donations: Major funders, celebrities, and corporations have made significant financial commitments to support wildfire relief in California. The California Community Foundation has received $4 million for its Wildfire Recovery Fund. The BeyGOOD Foundation has launched the BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund with a $2.5 million pledge. Corporate contributions from companies like Anthem Blue Cross, Walt Disney, Verizon, and Walmart have collectively pledged millions for relief and rebuilding efforts.
Beware of Scammers: California officials have warned Los Angeles residents about a surge of scammers taking advantage of the crisis. It’s crucial to be vigilant and ensure that any donations or assistance offers come from legitimate sources.
We urge our community to come together and support those in need during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those affected by these tragic events.
